This inexpensive boom is just perfect for anything from a shotgun mic, up to lights weighing several pounds. I've used it for a ring light as well as a soft box with fluorescent lighting inside. Pairs perfectly with my premium compact light stands from Cowboy Studio, which have a little wider base than the cheap models.
