One of the main questions our customers ask us is, “What is the difference between continuous and strobe lighting?” Continuous lighting uses a constant light source to light the object, meaning that your lights will stay on during the entirety of your photo shoot. Continuous lighting is recommended for beginners. Strobe lighting uses a flash of light at the moment your camera shutter opens to illuminate your subject. Many professionals use this type of lighting because it offers more control of the light.

Flashes are used in photography to produces an instantaneous flash of artificial light at a color temperature of about 5500K to help illuminate a scene.

Can't beat the product for the price May 11, 2012
Reviewer: Cowdrey from Pittsfield, MA United States
I have purchased several products from CowboyStudio over the past few years and have been satisfied with all of them. They have great customer service too. I had a small adapter on this product that did not work and they immediately overnighted me a new one once I provided proof of purchase. These strobes, while not the highest of quality, can't be beat for the price. Most of my photography work is done with natural light but I wanted a simple studio setup and could not justify the thousands of dollars that go into purchasing high end strobes. For a very reasonable price, you get the same basic functionality with this set and don't break the bank. I'm sure full-time studio photographers would cringe at this and tell you they don't compare, but coming from someone who has worked in TV and Photography for a decade now, these are great for basic or occasional use. If you are looking to open a portrait studio, definitely look into something higher end.
